Grammar School
Classical Christian Education is divided into three categories, the first of which encompasses Kindergarten through 6th grade and is called Grammar School. Students in these grades are typically curious, excited about learning new and interesting things, and absorb facts easily. They enjoy stories; eagerly learn chants, rhymes, and songs; and have a great capacity for memorization of all kinds. Valor’s curriculum and approach is aligned with this stage and meant to build on these natural tendencies in a way that helps students learn well. To ensure balance, the school day includes recess, lunch, P.E, and lots of “brain breaks” that give students a chance to rest, play, and build friendships.
Part of a joyful education includes special outings and memorable activities. Valor’s grammar school students will enjoy several field trips each year, special classroom guests, and the start of grade-specific traditions such as Greek Festival, Medieval Feast, and Wax Museum. As the school progresses, we expect to add activities such as Spelling Bee, Speech Meet, and more.
The following is an example curriculum map for Kindergarten through 6th grade.
